5-Reps Friday by Jonathan Goodman

"The most industry experience per word on the web."
5-Reps: Raising prices, recovering from injury, and being professional
Happy Friday.

From now on, I'll be sending you this note every week at the same time.

Each one contains 2 coaching concepts, 2 business nuggets, and a quote for you to consider.
2 Coaching Concepts
1.

If you get injured lifting weights, you've exceeded your tissue's tolerance.

The worst thing to do is to take time off.

That'll make your tolerance go down even more.

Instead, get back into training.

Start easy: Load light, go slow, and work in isometrics.

Then build yourself back up.

2.

A challenging client might not be actually challenging you.

They might just be a challenging person. Some people are disagreeable; or curious. That's not a bad thing.

When a client challenges you and you take it seriously, two possible things could happen:

a) You learn you were right and gain more confidence.
b) You learn you were wrong and get better.

Disagreeable clients are a blessing in disguise.

2 Business Nuggets
1.

If you're considering raising your price, you probably should have done it six months ago.

Here's your four steps to raise your rates:

a) Pick a date 1-2 months away.
b) Raise more for new members and less for existing.
c) Give the reason why, quickly.
d) Highlight any advantages you offer (smaller classes, more experience, etc.)

2.

You don't need another $799 certification; that's just your way of procrastinating from doing the real work.

My guess is that it's not information you need, it's implementation.

Winning in business is the same as winning in fitness:

Learn the rules, build the foundation, and execute on the simple daily tasks necessary for success.
1 Quote to Consider
"I don't have to be professional. I just have to be right."
